The problem of protection of metallic equipment from corrosion is highly relevant in the household, and especially, in industrial cooling systems with circulating water, working in a closed cycle. In practice, for protection against corrosion of the equipment specified cycles, various reactants may be used. However, in some cases, their use has significant drawbacks. For example, corrosion inhibitors based on sodium nitrite protect from corrosion at very high concentrations (at least 1.4 g / dm3) at pH of not less than 10. At concentrations of such inhibitors below 100-150 mg / dm3 it is possible stimulation of the local types of corrosion, biofouling, and the ignition of the workwear and other textiles during the drying up of the inhibitor solutions in air. Chromate-based products have a very high toxicity, and inhibitors based on poly- and glassy phosphates, due to their interaction with hardness salts, drastically reduce their activity and form the water-insoluble deposits in the system. Products containing benzotriazole and tolyltriazole drastically reduce the protective effect at the chloride content in water higher than 250 mg / dm3 and are carcinogenic, i.e. can cause cancer.

Water-soluble corrosion inhibitors of the complex action, that do not have the disadvantages of the products listed above, have been developed in the research laboratory of "Himipex Oil". Our corrosion inhibitors for aqueous systems: dramatically reduce the rate of corrosion of the equipment, including rigid water and seawater; prevent sedimentation of deposits on the surfaces of the equipment and remove any deposits; they do not require the water softening; effective in small quantities; useful at high temperature conditions.

The principle of protection from corrosion of our water corrosion inhibitors is the formation of very thin protective film on the anode, cathode and neutral areas of the surface. This film reliably protects the surface from chemical and electrochemical corrosion in the presence of oxygen. In case that, for any reason, the system remains without water, the protective film of our product will be stable up to 30 days and will protect against corrosion at water absence in system during this period.

The results of corrosion studies

The results of corrosion studies, obtained in studying the effect of some of our developed inhibitors on corrosion of the steel 3 in circulating water on certain a refinery, are given in the table. The total volume of the unit according to water - 20,000 m³. Equipment - Carbon Steel. Water parameters: total salt content = 2057 mg / dm³, including - chloride = 298 mg / dm³, sulfate = 484 mg / dm³, pH = 7.87, hardness = 15.3 mg • eq / dm³, alkalinity = 2.3 mg • eq / dm³, the oil content - 91 mg / dm³, content of suspended solids = 49 mg / dm³.
